Your idea, live in the browser — and loved by your customers

Portals, booking systems, dashboards and full digital products. This is the story of how a web application comes to life at Digenixa — told the way you'll experience it.

First, an honest question

Do you need a web app — or a website?

A website tells people about you. A web application does something for them — they log in, calculate, book, track or manage something. If a well-built website with a good enquiry form would do the job, we'll build that instead: it's quicker, cheaper and easier to look after.

A web app earns its keep when people need to come back, do something, and see their own information when they do.

A web app is right when

  • Customers need to log in — to see their orders, bookings, documents or progress.
  • A spreadsheet has become your product — shared by email, versioned by filename, trusted by nobody.
  • You're turning a service into a product — a subscription, a tool or a portal people pay for.
  • Several people edit the same thing — and someone keeps overwriting someone else.
  • It must work anywhere — on any device, without an app store in the way.

The Journey

From first coffee to launch day — and beyond

No mystery, no black box. Here's exactly what happens when you build a web application with Digenixa.

1
Week one · Discover

We listen before we build

It starts with a conversation, not a contract. We learn how your business works, who your customers are, and what "success" actually looks like in numbers. You leave the first session with a clear scope and an honest price — not a sales pitch.

  • Free discovery session
  • Fixed, transparent scope
  • Success metrics agreed up front
2
Weeks 1–2 · Design

You see it before we build it

Within days you're clicking through an interactive prototype of your application on your own phone. We storyboard your customers' journey screen by screen, and you steer the design while change is still cheap and fast.

  • Interactive prototype in days
  • Your branding, your voice
  • Mobile-first from the first sketch

"It felt like the app already existed before a line of real code was written."

3
Weeks 2–6 · Build

Watch it come alive, week by week

You get a private link to the live build and a weekly walkthrough — see progress, try features, change your mind while it's easy. We build with modern, proven technology: fast to load, secure by default, accessible to everyone.

  • Private preview link from week one
  • Weekly show-and-tell
  • Security & GDPR built in
4
Launch · Go live

Launch day, minus the drama

We handle hosting, domains, SSL, analytics and search visibility. Your team gets a plain-English handover session and simple guides — so from day one, you're in control, not dependent.

  • Hosting & SSL sorted
  • Team training included
  • Analytics from day one
5
Ongoing · Evolve

Your application grows with you

Launch is the start, not the end. We monitor, maintain and improve — using real usage data to suggest what to build next. Many of our clients' best features were ideas we spotted together in month three.

  • Monitoring & support
  • Data-led improvements
  • A partner, not a supplier

How we work

Three frameworks holding the project up

One for how we engage, one for how the application is built, one for how it's delivered — so the project stays predictable from the first sketch to the first real user.

A

Engagement

Discovery and a clickable prototype come first, at a fixed fee, so you can put something in front of real users before committing to a build. Build then runs in fixed-scope phases you approve one at a time.

  • Named product owner on both sides
  • Fortnightly demo on real data
  • Open backlog you can read
  • Change control with an impact note
B

Architecture

Browser-first and responsive, installable as an app where that helps. A clean API between the interface and the data, so a mobile app or integration can follow without a rebuild.

  • Accounts, roles and audit trail as standard
  • Accessibility designed in from the start
  • Performance budgets, not afterthoughts
  • UK hosting with automatic HTTPS
C

Delivery

Design is settled before build starts, because rework in code costs far more than rework in a prototype. Build then ships in two-week slices, each tested and deployed to a staging site you can use.

  • Written acceptance criteria per feature
  • Staging site for testing before go-live
  • Launch checklist with a rollback plan
  • Early-life support, then a care plan

The process

Seven phases, idea to everyday use

Durations are typical, not promises — scope, integrations and the state of what already exists move them more than anything else. Discovery gives you a version of this table with your own numbers in it.

PhaseFocusWhat you getTypical
1. Discovery & product definitionUsers, the jobs they need done, what exists already, how success will be measuredProduct brief, user journeys, prioritised backlog, estimate2–3 weeks
2. UX & prototypeWireframes, a clickable prototype, testing it with real usersPrototype, design system, technical plan2–4 weeks
3. BuildFeatures, accounts and roles, admin tools, notificationsWorking software every two weeks, release notes, admin guide6–14 weeks
4. Integrate & importPayments, email, accounting, existing data brought acrossIntegration map, import scripts, validation reportOverlaps build
5. Test & UATCross-device, accessibility, security and performance, then your users trying itTest summary, defect log, UAT sign-off2–3 weeks
6. LaunchGo-live, analytics, monitoring, announcing itLive application, launch checklist, monitoring in place1 week
7. Care & evolveSupport, updates, measuring use, planning what's nextUsage report, prioritised roadmapOngoing

The prototype is where most of the value is decided. Changing a screen in a prototype takes an afternoon; changing it after it's built can take a sprint.

Why Digenixa

The benefits you'll actually notice

  • Speed to value — a working prototype in days, a live product in weeks.
  • One team, end to end — strategy, design, build, hosting and support under one roof.
  • Built to last — clean, documented builds that another developer could pick up (though you won't want them to).
  • Measured results — we agree the numbers that matter up front, then report on them honestly.

Handover

What you actually walk away with

A project ends properly or it doesn't end at all. This is what "finished" means with us.

You receive

  • The application live in production
  • Source code and ownership of it
  • Design files and the design system
  • Admin and user guides
  • Test results and UAT sign-off
  • Hosting, monitoring and backups set up
  • A prioritised roadmap for what's next

How it's delivered

  • An open backlog — you see what's being built and why
  • A demo every two weeks, on real data
  • A staging site to test before anything goes live
  • A launch checklist, including how to roll back
  • Close support in the weeks after launch
  • Handover training, then an optional care plan

How we measure it

  • Are people completing the tasks it was built for?
  • Sign-ups, activation and returning users
  • Speed on real devices and connections
  • Support requests going down, not up
  • Uptime and error rates
  • The business outcome agreed at the start

Commercials

Priced so the risk sits with us

Every project is quoted individually — but the shape is always the same.

01

Discovery & prototype

Fixed fee, fixed length. You end it with a tested prototype and a costed plan — yours to keep whether or not we build it.

02

Build

Fixed price per phase, each approved before it starts. If a phase reveals something new, we re-plan with you rather than quietly overrun.

03

Care plan

A monthly plan covering hosting, security updates, monitoring and a set amount of improvement time.

Changes are normal — you'll learn things partway through that you couldn't have known at the start. Each one gets a short written note on cost, time and knock-on effects, and nothing starts until you approve it.

Straight answers

What clients ask before they commit

Web app or mobile app?

For most businesses, a web app first. It works on every device from one codebase, updates instantly and needs no app-store approval. It can be installed to a phone's home screen too. If you later need something only a native app can do, the API we build makes that a smaller job.

Can you build on top of our existing website?

Usually. The application can live alongside your site — on a subdomain or behind a login — sharing your branding without us rebuilding what already works.

How soon will we see something clickable?

Typically within the first four to six weeks, as a prototype you can put in front of your own users. Working software follows every two weeks once build starts.

Who owns it?

You do — code, data, design files and documentation. We'd like to keep looking after it, but nothing is built to make leaving difficult.

Will it be accessible?

Accessibility is designed in rather than audited at the end: sensible contrast, keyboard use, screen-reader labels and forms that make sense. We test for it before launch.

What happens after launch?

A period of close support while real users find the rough edges, then a care plan with time for improvements. Most applications get noticeably better in their first three months, once there's real usage to learn from.
